IOSH

Established in the UK in 1949, IOSH is Europe's leading membership organisation for health and safety professionals and has over 33,000 members worldwide, 13,000 of which are Chartered Safety and Health Practitioners. A non-profit making organisation, its aim is to steer the profession, maintaining standards and providing impartial authoritative advice and guidance on health and safety issues. IOSH are represented on many national and international standard-setting committees.

IOSH have developed a series of certificated health and safety programmes which are designed to promote protection from workplace hazards at every level. They have also constructed a range of environmental programmes which provide an overview of current environmental thinking. All IOSH programmes are founded on international best practice rather than UK legislation in order to ensure their international relevance.

IOSH courses provide an excellent foundation for higher level NEBOSH programmes such as the International General Certificate and other equivalent level 3 safety qualifications.
